BestBuy in Frederick is handing out gift cards for good grades. $5 for 1 A, $10 for 2 A’s, $15 for 3 A’s and $25 for 4 A’s. I took my daughter yesterday and she received a $25 gift card, which she was able to use immediately to buy two new summer videos. (K-12)

30% Off Kids’ Admission to Busch Gardens & Water Country USA

In conjunction with this year’s FCPL Summer Reading Club, Busch Gardens and Water Country USA (Williamsburg, VA) have signed up to give kids a 30% discount on single day admission tickets to both parks.

To receive the discount, kids need to show their library card at the ticket counter.

Promotion open to students 18 and younger.

2 Rita’s Italian Ice Deals

Stop by Rita’s Italian Ice Saturdays between 8-10pm, give them a movie stub from anytime this month, and get a Rita’s coupon.
Kids bring a report card to Rita’s by June 30. If they have at least one A (or equivalent grade), they will receive a free Rita’s Italian ice.

Three-Month YMCA Summer Memberships are Back!

Summer memberships are valid for any three-month period between May 1 and September 30, 2008.

My family signed up last summer, and when we decided to continue our membership after the summer, the Y waived the customary $100 initiation fee. I’ve spoken with several people who said this fee was also waived for them in previous years.
If you’ve already enrolled your kids in YMCA summer camp at the non-member rate, sign up for a summer membership before camp starts, and have your fees adjusted.
Free babysitting (and a rec room for older kids, complete with pool table & air hockey).
Free wireless internet in the lobby.

Regal Cinemas Free Kids’ Movies–Summer 2008 Schedule

When school’s out, kids around the country visit selected Regal theatres for the Free Family Film Festival. It’s a fun-filled nine weeks of movies for kids and parents. Since 1991, Regal has provided this service to the community, and best of all it’s FREE!

Selected G & PG movies start at 10AM each Tuesday and Wednesday during the festival. First-come, first-served seating is limited to theatre capacity. The Free Family Film Festival is safe, lots of fun and a great way for kids to spend a weekday morning in the summer.

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program

The Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program is back for 2008.

Here’s how It works (from the B&N website):

Kids read any 8 books.
Kids use the Summer Reading Journal to tell us their favorite part of each book. A parent/guardian signs it when it’s complete.
Children bring their completed journal to a Barnes & Noble store between May 29th & September 2nd, 2008.
We’ll give them a coupon for a FREE book! They choose from a list of exceptional paperback titles.*

*Eligible books will be listed on the coupon. Choices must be made from eligible stock. No special orders. Limit of 1 form per school-age child (grades 1-6), please. Incomplete forms will be ineligible for free books.
