eBay Trading Assistant Program

If you’re an experienced eBay seller and want to help other people sell their items, you can register on eBay as a Trading Assistant and be listed in eBay’s Trading Assistants Directory. Being listed in the directory is a free way to advertise your services to people looking for help.

The biggest mistake new Trading Assistants make is that they don’t charge enough for their services. Be sure to charge enough to justify the up-front time required to research and list the items, not to mention the fees (exceeding 10% on lower-ticket items sometimes) that you’ll have to pay eBay and PayPal. Remember, too, that as a Trading Assistant you’ll take possession of the items you list for other people and will be responsible for shipping them. Factor in time/gas spent picking up items from people’s homes, if you offer that service, and time/materials involved in packaging and shipping.

To become a Trading Assistant (and to remain in the program), you need to meet the following requirements:

  • You’ve sold an average of 10 items per month (during the last three months).
  • You have a feedback score of 100 or higher.
  • 97% or more of your feedback is positive.
  • Your eBay account is in good standing.
