Target GiftCard holders can now save their cards to an account on Target’s mobile-optimized site (m.Target.com) and simply present their web-enabled mobile phone to the cashier at checkout.

To use a card for an in-store purchase, just go to the mobile site on your phone and enter the login and PIN for the GiftCard you want to redeem. A unique 2D barcode appears on the phone display screen, which the cashier scans into Target’s POS system. The purchase amount is then automatically deducted from the GiftCard.

From February 1 through 14, the first 500,000 people who sign up for the new Denny’s Rewards program online will receive a free burger and fries (available March 1 through March 7, 2010).

Ski Liberty is open for skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing from 9am to 10pm on Wednesday, February 3rd for Operation Thank You!

All active duty Military, Paid & Volunteer EMS, Firefighters and Law Enforcement with current, valid active duty ID are entitled that day to receive FREE all-day lift tickets, 2 hour tubing tickets or $25 First Class Learn to Ski and Snowboard Packages.

Just present your ID at the ticket windows to receive your tickets!

NOTE: Family members and civilian staff are not eligible for complimentary tickets.

Volunteer a day of service at a participating organization and receive a free 1-day, 1-theme park ticket to Disneyland or Disney World.

Here’s how the program works:

Sign up and commit to an eligible volunteer opportunity at DisneyParks.com.
Complete your volunteer service.
Print the voucher that is emailed to you once your service is verified. Follow the instructions on the voucher to redeem it by December 15, 2010. Then enjoy! (Or you can donate your ticket to a designated organization.)

Some volunteer opportunities in our area are available for children as young as 6.

Amazon Gift Cards are a great gift giving option for the person who has everything (or for people you may not know well). These no-fee cards never expire and can be redeemed for millions of items on Amazon.com. You can email Amazon gift cards, print them, or have Amazon mail them in a card for free. Order by December 21, and your gift card(s) will arrive by December 24. Amazon will expedite shipping for free to make sure they arrive on time (contiguous US only).

Scholastic Book Fairs Holiday Warehouse Book Sale (Odenton, MD)

The next Scholastic Book Fairs Warehouse Sale is scheduled for December 10-19. We go every year–even though it’s an hour’s drive away–and save up to 80% on everything from video games and children’s books to goody bag favors and birthday presents that we stash in a closet until we need them.

Be sure to sign up for a Fast-Cart Pass to skip the sign-in lines and get a coupon for $10 off a $60 purchase.

Although these sales are promoted as being exclusively for educators and BookFair chairpeople/volunteers, many shoppers do not fall into any of these categories.

Mar-Lu-Ridge Family Campfire Event

Mar-Lu-Ridge Conference and Educational Center in Jefferson, Maryland is hosting a Family Campfire on Sunday, December 13, 2009 beginning at 4 p.m. There is no charge to participate. All are invited to join at the large outdoor campfire circle located at the end of Mar-Lu-Ridge Road atop Catoctin Ridge near Jefferson. Celebrate the joys of Christmas with songs, stories, snacks, fellowship and a roaring fire – the perfect wholesome outdoor family activity in this busy season. Coinstar coin counting is free when you turn your coins into a gift card or eCert. Now through December 6th when you cash in $40 or more, Coinstar will send you a holiday bonus worth $10.

New Starbucks Loyalty Program Requires Purchases For Most Rewards

Starbucks will merge its two rewards programs, Starbucks Card Rewards and Starbucks Gold, into a single program, My Starbucks Rewards. The new program, which requires more interactions before the benefits kick in than the current programs, will debut 12/26.

My Starbucks Rewards cherry picks from both previous programs. All of the schemes are based off stored-value cards. Similar to the Starbucks Gold program, participants are given a free birthday beverage when the card is registered. And like the soon-to-be-phased-out Starbucks Card Rewards, My Starbucks Rewards will not have an annual fee.
