From FCPS.ORG Newswire:
Frederick County Public Schools and the Summers Farm Adventure became official partners this month. As a result, elementary students and their families are invited to take a Food Pyramid Challenge September 6-10, eating at least one food from each of five food groups daily. The groups include grains, vegetables, fruits, milk and meats or beans. Students are also asked to try at least one new food during the week.
Students may record what they eat Monday-Friday that week using Food Pyramid worksheets provided by Summers Farm. Students who turn in the worksheet to their PE teacher with their parent’s initials by the September 17 due date will receive a coupon for free admission to Summers Farm this fall.
“Eating well is one of the most important steps that people of all ages can take to improve their health,” says Kathleen Wack, FCPS Elementary Physical Education and Health curriculum specialist. “This partnership is a wonderful way in which a local farm is helping FCPS teach students and their families about good nutrition.”

SugarSync is a convenient way to back up, sync and access files from anywhere, anytime. I have it installed on 3 devices–my laptop, my home PC, and my iPhone–which means I can access my important documents from anywhere.
Some features of SugarSync that make it a must-have:
- Important documents, photos, and movies are automatically backed up to your personal SugarSync website. If you ever lose a hard drive, you can easily retrieve your data.
- SugarSync saves the previous 5 versions of all files that have been edited, so you can roll back changes if you need to.
- Photo album collections can be organized into albums and shared.
- It’s easy to access the same data on multiple computers. All your computers can share the same MyDocuments folder, for example.
- Photos you take with your camera phone automatically sync to all the computers in your SugarSync network.
- You can access your files from any web browser.
- Music folders (including iTunes) can by sync’d across multiple computers and have the same music collection everywhere. What’s great about this is that it enables you to stream your music collection over the internet or directly to your iPhone without downloading the songs.
- You can view and share files from your iPhone, Blackberry, Android, iPad and iPod Touch.
- It’s easy to create public links to files and forward them to other people so they can download them.
- You can upgrade to a paid plan at a later date if you need more space.
To sign up for a free account with 2 GB of storage space, click here. Click the Change Plan button on any of the paid plan options, and select 2 GB Free.
To earn a 250 MB Getting Started Bonus, complete the tutorial on the website. To earn a 250 MB Mobile Getting Started Bonus, complete the games on the (free) mobile app. This storage space is available to you for as long as you use SugarSync.
In addition, just for using this link to sign up, you get an additional 500 MB of free storage.

Bank of America’s Keep the Change program is an easy way to save money. Every time you use your debit card, the purchase is rounded up to the nearest whole dollar amount and the change is put into your savings account. For the first 90 days, Bank of America matches your deposits up to $100; thereafter, they match 5%.
Before signing up, I chatted with a Bank of America Account Specialist. My chat transcription is below:
Me: I’m thinking of signing up for B of A’s Keep the Change program. I don’t currently have a checking or savings account with B of A.
1. Does the Keep the Change program reward me for VISA purchases or debit purchases?
2. Do I pay any fees for using my card (if not withdrawing money)?
3. Do I understand correctly that if I open a regular checking account online that I do not pay checking fees? (Any fees for original checks?)
4. Do I understand correctly that if I open a regular savings account and maintain a $300 balance that I pay no fees for that account either?
Melanie: When you have Keep the Change both PIN and PINless transactions will count toward the program. And there is no fee for making purchases with your debit card, even if you get cash back.
Melanie: And during our exclusive online-only promotion we have the MyAccess Checking account and Regular Savings, both with absolutely zero monthly fees when you enroll in Keep the Change! This offer does not require a minimum balance. It also comes included with free Online Banking with Bill Pay, unlimited check writing, teller transactions, a Visa ATM/Check Card, and earn up to $250 with the free Keep the Change program!
Me: What about the savings account options?
Melanie: With this offer the Regular Savings will have no monthly maintenance fee if you enroll in Keep the Change and you will not need a minimum balance or a transfer into the account.
Me: Sounds good. How do I initially add money to my new accounts?
Melanie: For your convenience, you can make your opening deposit with a transfer from a checking, savings or debit card account with us or another bank.
I signed up about a month ago and use my account mainly for Starbucks purchases. I have bought things at a couple other stores and asked them to put just a penny on this card, which they’ve done (and Bank of America has matched my $0.99), but I felt both times as if I needed to apologize to the sales clerk–not really worth it to me.

The Amazon Student page
also features a variety of other merchandise likely to appeal to college students, such as laptops, bedding, and microwavable foods like Kraft Easy Mac.
